How To Improve Cycling Speed By Adjusting Your Posture

road bike

With 50 years of experience in F1, Swiss Side, known as the number one bicycle aerodynamics brand, launched a column called - Swiss Side Aero Tip. In this issue, I will share with you how to improve the riding speed of road bikes by adjusting the riding posture to be more in line with aerodynamics.

Compared with improving equipment and speeding up, the practicality of this issue seems to be very cost-effective. Of course, better aerodynamic postures require higher physical fitness. Now practice and improve while practicing.

TIPS 1: Changing from the handlebar horizontal posture to the most commonly used stretching and gripping posture can save 17 watts at 35km/h, and it can be 4 minutes and 45 seconds faster in the simulation of the 100km stage;

TIPS 2: Changing the posture from straightening the grip to the posture of straightening the arm to grab the lower handle can save 25 watts at 35km/h, and it can be 7 minutes faster in the simulation of the 100km stage;

TIPS 3: Turn the arm at 90° to lower the upper body. The power saved at 35km/h can reach 37 watts, and it can be 10 minutes faster in the simulation of the 100km stage;

TIPS 4: In the sprint stage, use the most aggressive bent arm to grab the handlebar posture, which can save 47 watts at 35km/h, and can be as fast as 13 minutes in the simulation of the 100km stage.
